You’ve got a critical initiative underway. It can’t fail, but it’s either already in trouble or you have a gut feel it’s about to be. Looking for an independent opinion, or need someone to drive it to completion? We’ve done it before. Many times.
68% of all technology based projects fail, according to the 2009 Standish Group CHAOS Report
“This year’s results show a marked decrease in project success rates, with 32% of all projects succeeding which are delivered on time, on budget, with required features and functions" says Jim Johnson, chairman of The Standish Group, "44% were challenged which are late, over budget, and/or with less than the required features and functions and 24% failed which are cancelled prior to completion or delivered and never used."
Move the odds back in your favour
There is much literature on why change initiatives (projects) fail, and numerous hypotheses on why they actually fail. However we here at The Whitestone Group, having implemented numerous change initiatives, from the small and surgical, to the huge and complex, have a very simple perspective on why there is so much failure.
The Number 1 Factor in the Success of any Change Initiative is the Strength of its Leader:
This is followed closely by the #2 Factor, which is the strength of its team members. ‘Strength’ we define as ‘a combination of the depth of experience and the ability to lead and be willingly followed’. There is no truer truism than ‘No one does it like someone who has done it before’.
So should you have a project that’s not critical and you are comfortable with on-the-job training of your staff, we can help by providing coaching and mentoring to your leaders.
Should you have an initiative that is somewhat more critical, but you still want your own staff to run it, we can help by augmenting your team, as well as providing more direct oversight of the initiative, still leaving the day to day leadership with your staff.
Should you have an absolutely can’t-fail initiative that’s critical to business success, that you can’t take a chance on, we’ve got the people you can count on to drive it successfully.
